Hardware Design for the Gulf

Gulf governments are betting on local manufacturing. Saudi Vision 2030 and the UAE's industrial strategy both put advanced manufacturing and electronics at the centre, which means more products being designed for the region — not just imported into it.

Our regional office is in Riyadh and the wider team is only 1.5 to 2.5 hours from Gulf time. We design for local conditions: parts and layouts rated for 50°C summers, dust-sealed enclosures, and companion apps that work properly in Arabic and English.

Approvals are planned from day one: TDRA type approval and ECAS conformity in the UAE, SASO certification through the SABER platform in Saudi Arabia — which now covers wireless approval as well — and CRA type approval in Qatar.

Approvals, Planned From Day One

We design for these rules from the first schematic and prepare the paperwork. Testing is done by an accredited lab, and we coordinate it for you.

UAE · TDRA

Type approval for any device with a radio — Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular or LoRa — before it can be sold in the Emirates.

UAE · ECAS

The MoIAT conformity scheme for electrical safety, separate from and in addition to the TDRA radio approval.

Saudi · SASO / SABER

Product certificates issued through SABER, which since 2025 also covers wireless approval against CST's technical specifications.

Qatar · CRA

Type approval for radio and telecom equipment sold in Qatar.

GCC · G-Mark

The GCC conformity mark required for many low-voltage electrical products across the six member states.

Ways to Work With Us

Start with the design, stop at a working prototype, or hand us the whole product. You own every file either way.

01

Design only

A complete, manufacturer-ready design package — schematics, layout, BOM and production files. Your team or factory takes it from there.

02

Design + prototype

We design, order, assemble and bring up the first boards, and hand you working units to test, demo and show investors.

03

Full product

Board, firmware, enclosure, app and cloud — carried through certification and the first production run with your manufacturer.

Common Questions

Plain answers, no jargon.

Yes. Borgfy has a regional office in Riyadh and works with companies across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, with meetings on Gulf time and the Gulf working week.

In the UAE, devices with radios need TDRA type approval and electrical products need ECAS conformity. In Saudi Arabia, certificates are issued through SASO's SABER platform, which now includes wireless approval. Qatar requires CRA type approval. We confirm what applies on the scoping call and design for it.

Yes. We build bilingual Arabic–English apps with true right-to-left layouts, so setup, controls and alerts read naturally in both languages.

A simple board can be designed in one to two weeks. A connected product with firmware usually reaches its first working prototype in four to eight weeks, including fabrication and assembly. Complex multilayer or certification-bound products take longer — you get a dated plan before any work starts.

You do. Schematics, PCB layout source files, Gerbers, BOM, firmware source code, enclosure CAD and app code are all handed over in your name, and we sign an NDA before you share anything.
